floor pans

Post by layedout72 »

Im lookin at possibly replacing my floor pans all together. Are they plug welded in or what? Should I go ahead and get both cab braces (left and right) while im at it? new rockers may come as well. What does everyone think?

How do you install them in my main question. If anyone has pictures that would be great.

The factory floorpans are all one piece. If you have one side or the other that is rusted out, you have to cut out the rusty section and weld in the replacement. You can't buy a single piece section for the entire floorpan.

As for the cab braces, if they're rusted out, now would be the perfect time to replace them, while you're doing the floorpans.

Where can I find the pans, LMC only have them for 57-60 trucks from what I found, maybe I over looked them? I would like to replace it all if possible. Nothing like new parts, in an old truck!

LMC has them....in fact, that's where I bought mine. However, you can do some price-comparison with some of the other vendors, if you wish, though I think they're a pretty standard rate between all of them. The first seven vendors listed on the LINKS page all show them in their catalogs.

Can you possibly remember what page they were on. I went to the 56-72 book or whatever, page 20 where they said, and nothing for the newer years of those years.

I swear I saw someone who had eeither left or right Floor pan pieces. You'd have to cut but I am 99% sure I saw someone who sold ea. side seperate.

I think I found it in NDP pg. 216 R or L floor panel 29" wide $55ea. I also think I saw it online somewhere.

Looks from the pics and #'s that '73-'79 are the same floor panels as well. they also have the center piece seperate from the looks of it.

LMC seems to have them in pieces too but they cost twice as much. LMC pg. 22 But the price isn't twice as much I was looking at the pre '67s

I think I'm the only one here wondering why you wouln't rather get another cab considering you're in Mississippi. It may be my over-generalization that the south is over stocked with clean parts.

experience....and ease of doing. It's not the whole floor rusted, just parts, but I want to replace the full pan. These trucks arent all that popular down here, as you would think.
