Good bench seat cover

Post by FLATBEDFORD »

Any body know where to get a good cloth seat cover that will fit my '70 bench. The vinyl is good, I just want to protect it, and I'd like to be able to drive the truck with out my pants on. I meant with shorts on, just trying to be funny. My wife bought one from Autozone for father's day. Although inexpensive, it doesn't fit very well and one of the strings to tie it on riped off when I was trying to put it on. I'm afraid the dog's nails will tear the good original vinyl, and he'd really like to ride in the old truck with me.

Finally got around to getting and installing the cover from LMC. It's more like $70 but very nice. Installation was easy with the help of Mrs. FLATBEDFORD. Yes worth the money and it looks nice too. The dog was happy to finally ride in the old truck with me. Well, the dog is happy to do anything with me. I guess I was happy to take him for a ride.

Sweet I am happy to hear this as I need one as well and the navajo blanket style cover our '70 came with makes my husband itch too much (yikes, whats in THAT?). Is there a particular size or are they all about the same, and, did you find it on the internet?

Hey craig does that cover fit a Cheby seat?

It would replace the bad one on my dad's old pickup.

Thanks

My seat cover was purchased from Pep Boys a few years back, I don't know If you can still get them. However I really like it, it's Gray Velour w/ A large Ford Oval embroidered into the back. One tip I can suggest is that rather than use the strings they supply to secure the cover. Cut a bunch of pieces of wire about 2" long (like bailing wire) and use them as hog rings every six inches or so. It keeps the cover from getting wrinkles in it, Looks much nicer than using the strings.

I find the best selection of those saddle blanket style seat covers at the junkyard - if you have one that has pickups. People tend to leave them in the trucks when they junk them, and you can just pick a good one and wash it good with some detergent and a hose.
Oh,... and you should be good at haggeling prices with the junkyard owner. :D
