Windshield washer pump activation:

Post by Lazy Jake »

I'm being really lazy here but, does anyone want to tell me what activates the windshield washer on a '68 C.S.? I bought a new pump from LMC and when I plug it in and turn the key on, it runs all the time. That seems like a good thing and, I will troubleshoot it tomorrow but, in the meantime...

Tks.,

I appreciate the reply. I have the day off tomorrow, without pay. That will give me the opportunity to check the switch out. I noticed that I could pull the switch just a tad but, couldn't push it at all. It probably needs a good looking at.

Thanks again,

I'll just revive this to let you know that on the '68 you have to pull the windshield wiper knob to activate the washer. The "nut" had backed out on mine causing the pump to be on all the time. I took the switch out, cleaned everything up, and put it back in nice and snug. It works like new.

P.S. After a major 390 FE engine overhaul, it's nice to have little things to tinker with.
