How can you tell if you need to replace leaf spring bushings? When I removed my springs to have the frame blasted, I saw the spring bolts were worn along the shanks - wasp waist like. The rubber looks good, but I'm wonder in how critical the steel insert condition is to the performance and noise level on the springs.
I need to know now before I have them painted.
thanks in advance

re: need opinions on bushings
The steel in the bushings is probably harder than the bolts and may not be worn much. You could tell with a new bolt. I would have a spring shop press them in if you need them replaced, unless you have access to a press. Make sure you buy grade 8 bolts when you reolace them
Great ideas have always encounter violent opposition from mediocre minds.

I guess what I need to know is - How do you determine when to replace your bushings? Is it just a personal preference?
