Does anyone on this site have the original style bucket seats? I am wondering about left to right placement of the seats within the cab. I have a set of mid 90's truck buckets and would like to mount them in the same location as the bucket option for our trucks. I will likely have to fab up something.
Can someone measure the distance between the stock ford bucket seat tracks? Also, if I can get a measurement from either the edge of the bucket, or centerline of the bucket to the door, that might help also.
I am trying to think about how to mount the tracks, and want to get the tracks in a good spot. I would like to use the existing bench seat mounts for the outboard mounts

I would mount the seats for comfort.Of course you would mount the driver seat inline with the steering wheel, then measure side to door and inst the passenger seat to match. If it is possable, put the seat in the cab and sit in it,moving a little at a time to get it where it feels comfortable to you then mark the floor and fabricate what you have to.
At least that is what I would do.

Yep center the drivers seat to the column and then measure and match the passengers side seat.

in the rear of the cab just in front of the fuel tank is a small rubber stopper that is hiding the seat bolt hole for bucket seats. there is one on each side of the cab. if you flip your bench seat forward you can see the stopper that is the location of the seat track location for the bucket seats. why they didn't put front holes for the seats i don't know but the rear hole is there.

Fordman, I have a rubber plug, about the size of a quarter that is about 5" away from the bench seat track. Then there is a smaller plastic plug, with a square head, about 12" away. I figure it is the plastic square head plug, right? It even looks like it is the same size as the bench seat bolts.
Big D & Knip, I understand the notion of fitting the seats for comfort, but that doesn't work for me. What seems fine for 5 minutes becomes uncomfortable sometimes after 60+ minutes. Some cars I can't get comfortable in due to seating position. HAven't had that problem yet in a full size truck. Hoping if I can get my buckets mounted in the factory location it will work. If not, I can plug the holes and go back to the bench I guess.

The cab floors are already marked (dimpled) for the bucket seat brackets, if that's what you're using.

re: Placement of bucket seats within the cab?
Thanks Keith, Fordman.
Does the bucket seat inboard bracket have 4 or 2 bolts? If 4, is the plug and dimple for the inside set or outside set of bracket holes?
