Install A/C?

Post by cghstrojan08 »

I was wondering if it was possible to install a/c? I see there is an under mount unit on ebay? Would something like that work?

yes these trucks had a/c in them. mine has factory a/c but other trucks have had dealer a/c in them also. and some didn't have any at all. it was a option back then.

So, do you just take out the heater core and throw in the ac unit? The one I am looking at is dealer added? Do I need no make holes for hoses?

I just bought the a/c system from old air and will install it over the next couple of weeks. Not too expensive considering it is a complete system, new and R-134.

if you buy the dealer air you do not have to remove the heater box. it stays in. the holes for the lines originally went through the center top of the firewall. it had a cover that went with it on the factory models. i have seen dealer installed ones that they have just drill 3/4 inch holes in the firewall and used the black butyl stuff to fill in around the holes once the lines are through.
