I made some more progress today, first I put in the Protonix. The old points were so fried it made a world of difference, more responsive, idles smoother. Then I put in the other cap, rotor, and wires I had on it. Cleaned out the oil bath and added oil to it. Pounded out that dent in the hood, looks okay, more of just a wrinkle than a dent now. Sanded, primered, painted and put some clear coat over it. Only the paint I had was a brighter white than the truck so it looks out of place, but at least it's protected. Pulled the T-stat housing to inspect the T-stat and temp rating, (and make sure it had one). It was there and a 180` do I cleaned it, the housing, made a gasket and put it all back together. Note to self, pick up anti-freeze.
That's almost it for the mechanical work, just need to replace the plugs, get a longer stud for the carb, and straighten out that bumper and put the signal lens on. Then it's to the in cab repairs, fixing the radio, heater controls, lights, etc. The exhaust manifold will have to wait for a while.
Almost forgot, replace those rear brake shoes too.
