Battery Opinion questions
Hey guys, long time no see! Hope everyone is doin' well and trucks are still runnin' strong! Quick thing: My younger brother is gonna start drivin' my truck around town and to school and whatnot while I am in Austin and I need to make sure it's completely reliable for him since he ain't too savy. Either way, I'm puttin' a new battery in it. Where should I buy it from for ease of replacement if it fails, and also what kind should I get? I know this is a matter of opinion, but I like you guys, so thats what I want. Thanks fellas, yall take care.

Autozone or Advance is normally good about that.

re: Battery Opinion questions
Depending on the price your willing to spend, I get all my new batteries at autozone. I personally only buy Optima's. They seem more expensive but they have been good to me and a 3 year replacment warranty. I think I spent 90-95 on my last redtop. What ever brand you go with keep it from a large retailer that is willing to check your charging system if needed. Autozone, Advance, Napa, Sears, even wal-mart will do. All have pretty good warranties for batteries.

I just put in a 34R "Nascar Select" from NAPA in mine... I paid like $80. It has an 84 Month Warranty (prorated... 3-year full, I think). It has like 770 CCAs, 950 CA's, and 120 RC.

Just make sure you get the battery with the "F" or "R" designation, so it has the reversed posts.
I don't know much about Autozone's batteries, but in the 4 times I've been in there the past two weeks, they've been replacing batteries on warranty at least twice.

Re: re: Battery Opinion questions
The exact battery on my truck! Never had a problem, the warranty is good nationwide with your phone number, and although some will disagree with me, in 20+ years, I have never had a bad experience with Autozone batteries. Like the Duralast Gold alot, 3 years free replacement. Would also recommend new cables if it's been a while since they were replaced, and make sure you have a good clean spot where the ground cable attaches to the block!!!!!!!!!!!!!Billybobjunky wrote:Kinda what I was thinking...I kinda like this one, no worries with this one right?

re: Battery Opinion questions
I paid $127 for mine. 30 inch case though, my tray is modified for it.
1150 CA, 1000CCA, got it from my local IHC implement dealer.
I know its a lot, but my truck sits outside in the winter, and doesn't get started sometimes for weeks.
I really despise pissin' round with a weak battery.
For regular drivin' the Interstates always seemed like good units.

Optimas' do rule as round cells generate more current than flat cells. I used to work on single cell battery strings that power your land lines. Our Round cells weighed more and put out 100s if not thousands more amps per cell than the same size square cells. They usually got more years of service out of them too.
