Dyeing a cloth bench seat

Post by dotcentral »

I know people that have changed the color on vinyl with good results. Have heard of it being done to carpet. How about cloth/velour seats? I am trading seats with a buddy, and will have a nice used bench seat out of a 94 XLT. Will the dye stick, or will it wear off over time? I can see needing to get it as clean as possible to improve the dye job, but can a 14 year old seat hold the color?

A friend of mine used automotive carpet dye on his cloth seats a few years ago and it turned out pretty well, hasn't worn out or left butt stains yet.

"Are you gonna make it all 220?"
"Yeah 220, 221, whatever it takes."
