Factory dual battery setup question.

Post by tazzman68 »

I have a 76 parts rig that I am stripping and it has a factory dual battery setup, does anyone have a wireing diagram of these things? I was considering moving it over to the 67 if I can figure it out.
Thanks in advance as always.

I have duals but not factory. What isolator do you have? Mine is a three post. The center stud is the alt, the left is primary and the right batt is secondary batt.

I am also running a one wire alt so that might not work the same as what you got as far as the alt post on the isolator.

You ask what isolator I have, from what I can tell it runs over to a 3 post solenoid, and there was a 4 post on the other side for the ignition system. Does this sound about right/ or am I missing a piece of the system?

Here are a few pics of the one-wire conversion as far as what to do with the wire harness.

There is also a pic of the isolator I have. Tazzman, as far as what you have I beleive it is the three post. Is the center post wire going to the alt and the other two going to the batteries. There is a pic of my isolator below.

I used a big red marine-type isolation switch and change between batteries every month. Seems to keep it clean and simple. I also changed to a 135 amp Powermaster single wire alternator. Luck y for you, Greg took pictures of his setup, because I just started pulling wires out until I got only what I needed.

i have a '69 f-250 camper special that im putting back to orginal condition.it is taking a long time to do but it is my hobby..this website has been of great value on looking for the correct parts and i have came across a very good way to remove rust from parts without damage to the part ..it takes time but no abrasives to wear off the numbers or castings!!
