Little round chrome thing. WTF is it?

ok i found this thing on the D/S lower corner of the dash. Looks like some kind of light. I have spent most of the day surfing the web trying to find out what it is. Any help?

Why waste that much time when you could've had an answer here in just a few minutes?

That's your brake warning switch light. Your front brake circuit and rear brake circuit are plumbed into a distribution block on the frame, which also houses a pressure valve. Normally both brake circuits are balanced in pressure, and the light stays off. However, if there's a loss of pressure in either the front or rear circuits, the valve goes off-center and the light comes on, to alert you of brake problems.

My light comes on if the e-brake is on too.

What? Are you saying that the light is off when you e-brake is off, but that the light comes on when you apply the e-brake?? That shouldn't be, since there is no direct connection between the e-brake and that light.

The only thing I can think of (and this is a stretch!) is that when you apply the e-brake, the resulting action of the e-brake cable pulling on the rear brake shoe puts a very small amount of pressure on the hydraulic portion of rear brake circuit, and if the valve in the distribution block is already slightly off-center, it might be just enough to trigger the warning light. I'll bet if you were to bleed the front circuit just a tiny bit to re-center that valve, the warning light wouldn't come on anymore when you apply the e-brake.

Its a space time continum warpage indicator light. When its on it means that time has sped up a milisecond.
The only sure fire way to turn it off is to buy the special black tape and cover it or just unplug it.

Just kidding the advice given above is right. We had a comical thread about this very same subject not too long ago. If you use the search function and put in brake light indicator you should find it. Good for a few laughs.

Kinda sorta off topic.. Does anyone make a replacement red lens for the light?

My red plastic lens is all burnt through.

Ya the Light comes on when the e-brake is set.

I kind of like it that way. When you do the Disk brake swap how do you wire the light back in? Or do you?

I want it to work like it is now after I do the swap.
