Couple of questions

Post by flyboy2610 »

I want to insulate my doors. I have some of the roll insulation from LMC that has has foil on one side and jute padding on the other. My question is: which side does the foil go on? Does it go against the door skin, or does it go facing the inner door panel? I'm going to glue it in. I want a nice quiet cab so I can hear my tunes. I already put a piece of sound deadener in there.
Second question: I have the vent window seals from LMC, and they didn't come with the rivets to fasten them to the frame. Dennis Carpenter doesn't include them in their seal kit, either, or I'd contact them and see if I could just get the rivets. Does anybody know where I can get them, or have ten of them I could buy?
Regular pop rivets won't work.
Any help is much appreciated.

I would think that you would glue the foil side as well, that way it would act as a shield against hot and cold. :2cents:

I haven't seen what you're speaking of, but I'm assuming it's just a generic version of the highly-respected DynaMat....and that's installed with the foil out.

Yea, I think Keith is right although I had the same question a few years ago and as you can see, I was somewhat indecisive. Re the rivets, mine came with the kit from Dennis Carpenter. Maybe you can get them there. When you get around to installing them, do a search here as there has been some discussion on this.

It's the roll stuff at the top of page 71.
I was thinking it should go with the foil towards the door skin, away from the interior. There aren't any directions with it.
I put a piece of sound control mat inside the door. But I'm not sure how to do the roll insulation.
I will contact Dennis Carpenter about the rivets.
Thanks.

I think I found a source for the rivets. But they have several different sizes available. Does anybody know what size they are supposed to be?
The ones on my vent window were destroyed during the removal process, so I can't really measure them.
If anybody could tell me, I will leave you a fond wish in my will.

I wouldn't put jute inside a door, when jute gets wet it takes for ever to dry out. I'm not going to use jute in any of my replacement parts, on any of my car trucks.
