Emergency flasher switch location

I recall a discussion a long time ago (at the Dark Side) about the different locations of the emergency flasher switch, but I didn't save the info, and I really want to include this on the Identifying '67-'72 Pickups page, so in the interest of getting it right, I defer to you all.

I seem to recall the discussion as determining that the flasher switch was located in the glovebox from '67-'69, except on trucks equipped with factory A/C, whereas it would be located under the dash either to the right or left of the steering column. Starting in '70 the switch was moved up into the dash in the middle spot of the three available mounting holes.

Does this sound right? Does anyone have a truck with a switch location that doesn't go by these rules?

Yeah, I know...I'm a maschocist. :twisted: It's just that I've noticed quite a few people on E-bay selling the later-style flasher switches, saying it will fit all years ('67-'72), so I thought I'd better include something on the ID page to TRY to clarify things. I do remember there being a lot of confusion on this, but I think it's time we try to get it right....well, as much as possible, anyway.

Ah, yes the old migrating E-flasher switch. It seems like tha last discussion I was part of at the Dark Side ended up with a couple anomolies.

I've had two 67s. Neither had A/C and both had the switch in the glovey.

Here's an in-dash flasher switch, notice the part # starts with a D0.

This makes me believe '70 was the start for the switch in the dash.

My 72 has the switch in the glovebox.

This makes me believe '70 was the start for the posibility of the switch in the dash. It could still be in the other usual locations.

My canadian built 70 has it under the dash, not sure which side of the column. I think the right side. I will edit this post once I can verify.

Those of you with '70-'72 trucks who also have it under the dash: it seems (so far) that Ford put it there when they ran out of room on the dash, because of a choke, rear cab light switch, lighter, etc. Since there was only so many holes to mount things, something had to give, and since they already had the little underdash mounting bracket (from the '67-'69 trucks), it seems that the flasher switch was the logical choice to get relocated.

I COME IN PEACE---I was just wondering about all this so I will post what is written in my Ford parts catalog----Illustration shows 2 simple photos
1) Ill---67-69 (in glove box) photo has no mention of a/c or non a/c-
2) Ill---70-72 (indash) photo again makes no mention of a/c or non a/c equipt vehicles.
Remember these Ill. do not give complete part numbers only the basic number of 13A350 and a sketch of the typical system used in these trucks for these years.

I wish I knew the exact differences but I dont. Maybe all of us can check our switches and come up with a photo to put by each number

My '68F100 has it in the dash to the right of the steering column.

Both 69's and the 70 I have owned all had the glove box switch.

My 72 has a push/pull switch in the dash.
