Transplanting neutral switch

Ok, I am converting my truck to P.S. right now, and am rebuilding the column that will go into the truck. It is missing the switch itself, and the rod that sticks out is broke off. However the manual column that was in the truck still has the setup, but the wires were cut at some time.
So, is it possible to take the little rod off of the old column and put it on the new one? It looks like is crimped on or something.

It's not crimped...it just snaps on. There are two tabs on that little rod that snap into slots in the shift tube, no tools needed to remove, except maybe a pair of pliers to squeeze the ends together.

Thanks, I got the switch changed over last night.
Now I gotta figure out how to wire it back into the truck.
I am debating going with a Painless kit, I am pretty good at wiring, but this truck is a mess wiring wise. Everything still worked when I hooked a battery up tho.
