say i went to radio shack and bought a distribution block for my hot and ground wires for my gauges. is there a way to crank the motor and run it for a while without even using the trucks wiring or anything? As fas as ignition I mean.....I am guessing the coil needs to be hooked up and all, but whats the deal with this? Is it possible to hot wire it to turn over just to break her in and seat the rings?

Can't remember for sure because it's been a long time, but I believe all you need to do is run a jumper wire from the rearward small post on the starter solenoid to the negative (-) side of the coil, then just jumper across the front two posts on the solenoid to fire the starter. ( use a beat up plastic or rubber handled screwdriver, as it WILL leave arc burns)

Make up a jumper with two alligator clips with a ignition resister inline, might even put in a toggle switch inline also. This will prevent damaging the coil and allow you to turn it on and off. use this wire from Battery side of the solenoid to the ignition side of the coil. Make another jumper with two alligator clips with a pushbutton switch inline to use to start it. Go from battery side of the solenoid to the small terminal on the solenoid that comes out of the harness from the ign switch to start. Using this type of setup will prevent damage to any of the threads from arcing and destroying the studs. Also then you will have the setup on hand for future use while troubleshooting any thing which may come up later. MAKE SUREYOU HAVE IT IN NEUTRAL.
