Peterson Model 500 Turn Signal switch installation
Has anyone ever installed universal (Peterson Mdl 500, pmlights.com) in an F100. 1969 swb. Is it feasible given how all the lights go thru the turn signal switch ? I am asking because I have changed cancel cams twice and not gotten the right one yet. The aftermarket switch looks like a substantial unit that won't break. I'll just turn it off myself, but at least it won't flop into turn mode when going down the road and I'll certainly know where off position is so the brake lights work. Thanks, Larry

That's what I use on mine. Just mounted as high as I could on the column. Works good, and won't wear out or break like the Ford switch. I drove 18 wheelers for the last ten years before I retired, so was used to cancelling anyway.

Fred, Got the switch installed Saturday. Works great, bet it will last forever. Downside is I need to go to the truck chrome shop and get a couple of stacks and a bulldog for the hood. There is a blue wire on the Peterson switch for pilot light, where did you hook yours up? I attached it to flasher power, it did not do anything so I unhooked it. Thanks, Larry

Hey Larry,
I guess you slipped in on me i usually don't miss greeting new members , especially those from my area. I'm probably one of the few here that knows where Cool Texas is and knows you didn't make it up.
Welcome and if you need something just shout (I love the drive between Weatherford and Mineral Wells)

Larry,
If you want to use the blue wire, you will have to get a 3 terminal flasher unit. Fused power to X, load to L, and the blue wire to P. It's not required, only if you want the lights on the unit to blink, but they are kind of out of eyesight anyway.

Sorry for delay in response, what with site being down. wt4spd, good to hear from you. I'll wave next time you come through. Frank, thanks for info, believe i'll just leave good enough alone as i have the orginal lights on the dash for indicators. putting the peterson unit in was a good choice, recommend it to all that can live with the non factory look. works great. Thanks, Larry
