'95 SRS Mustang Stereo Wiring

Post by towens »

Hey Everyone. I know that this isn't in the '67-'72 range but I figured that this problem that I have encountered is a basic wiring mistake.

I decided to exchange the stereo with a newer one. I had made sure that the stereo was getting power before I was going to connect all of the speakers. Well, the unit had turned on just fine and figured that it was good to go. I then decided to crimp all of the wires to their appropriate places. But now the stereo doesn't turn on, the clock on the dash doesn't work, power locks don't work, and the interior light doesn't work.

Did I blow a fuse or is there something more serious that I need to look at? Any input will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

everytime i install a stereo without disconecting the battery, garenteed i blow a fuse, that many things shut off, then ya its a fuse, its because when you start testing wires for power, i usually accidently rub a couple together and poof thats a fuse...

I have some bad news..... I had driven the car for the first time after I had encountered this problem and now the speedometer doesn't work as well; it did before. Would this also be connected with the fuse? I am still learning wiring and am open to learning all that I can.

Thanks,

Thanks for the reply. It was all controlled by a 10 ATC fuse. Guess I am used to working on things much older.
