rediradio

Post by BigRedTruck »

so i've been away...well so has time and money, but i did have school...we'll see if it evens out in the end. anyway these guy have another option for radios. I just saw them in hemmings classic car. It lets you keep the original radio but get modern fm transmissions. thought it might save some people trouble.

This wont give you FM, it just lets you play your mp3 player, or other portable device through your stock, AM radio.

I have one in one of my other cars with an FM radio, I've never seen one for AM before. Kind of cool. Have to think about whether its worth it or not.

Thanks for the heads up on it though.

its a option for those with little time, wanting a all original, lacking money...yes I know but the ones that actually fit in our trucks go for just as much on ebay. I found a 70's aftermarket fm, went out and got a old AM so I could have the proper connectors, and when I went to get the info fm radio, the only online reference I could find was a radio of the same model that was in a hollywood prop house. The company no longer makes radios, and I have a radio with completely proprietary parts, some of which need to be replaced.
If it did not cost me more money it cost me time. I probably will get one....as soon as I can replace my speaker, which is the original, and blew out in a fight with wind noise.

I have a secret audio system that hides under the seat so you can keep your factory radio (AM/FM/CD Changer. It works really well and lets the all original look. Secret Audio is the brand name and it's the only way to go if you want the factory original look.

I'd just be happy if you could still get a two-knob standard am-fm radio that sounded good. Nothing has knobs on it anymore.

I have a JVC KS-RX147 in the F-100 now. It's a good basic stereo with good sound, plenty of power for such a small cab, and tunes in my XM like a champ. Of course, these were discontinued 10 years ago like most all other two post designs that are worth having.

Maybe I can find another one on ebay or something. Oh, and did I mention it installed right in with NO CUTTING?
