F350 width for trailer

Post by frisky »

A relative of mine has given me a F350, about a '69 I guess. I have to haul it off a mountain and about another 400 miles. I am trying to figure out if I can get it on my car trailer. I'ts got dual wheels on the rear, and I am guessing I will have to at least pull one wheel off each side to get the width down.

Does anyone know what the width of the front wheels are (outside to outside) so I can see if it will fit on the trailer?

thanks.

it would depend on your trailer width. my car trailer wont handle a 1 ton just because the LUG NUTS wont go between the rails! I have one similar to the one Keith used to pull home his last donor cab. while I can put a 3/4 ton 4x4 on it, a one ton or wide wheels cause me fits!

TIP:bring some lengths of 4x4 wood blocks to put under the tires when it goes on the trialer and it won't hang up so bad on the side rails.

if yours has the deck over the wheels, it will fit no problem (widthwise)

I just measured the bed and its 7' 6" between the rails (which are above the bed about 12") so I think I will be ok. Its a heavy tandem trailer, I have hauled a 2T truck on it before so I thiink I will be ok.

Good suggestion on bringing some blocks just in case...

thanks.

Why don't you guys just cut the rails off of the trailer. We have a 24 ft gooseneck so we don't have problems with rails

well,
I use mine for everything from hauling cars to furniture to scrap metal to well...... you get the idea.
with the sides on it, I dont have as many problems with things falling off.
I dont haul a lot of 1 ton trucks so it works for me!
