Interchangeable Wiring

Post by bandit76 »

I'm working on restoring 69 F-100. Several years ago I was T-boned in an accident, luckily no one was injured. Most of the damage was the rear corner of the cab. I had planned on replacing the damaged area, but there was more damage than I thought. Recently I bought a 67 F-100 parts truck with a good cab. I read the link on the difference in 67-72. The question I have, will the wiring be the same or will there be any changing I need to know about before I swap cabs.

I cannot tell you for sure because I have yet to do the cab swap from my 68 Donor truck to my '69 Ranger.

My best recommendation would be "stare-and-compare" the two wiring harnesses and the connectors. It shouldn't be too hard to do since you will be unplugging all internal to external wiring harness connections on both trucks.

I will be doing this when I swap my trucks' cabs over, or I will reuse the harness from the truck I am fixing, some day.
Too many projects, too little time, but.. lovin' it!

there are some minor differences. if you use the 67 heater controls you will want the 67 wiring harness. also the plug for the ignition switch is different so you will have to get a 67 ignition switch. and maybe but i cant remeber. the dome light door switch plugs mihgt be different. but i cant remember for sure. as well as the brake light switch plug is different in 67 . also the brakepedal brakcets are different. so you will have to use the matching parts from either truck to have the brakes hooked up correctly. but who needs brakes these days.
