re: Retractable seat belts.
Mine came out of a 73!! there the same thing as the ones in the bumps! My old ones was not in the best of shape. If you can't find a black ones just buy you some INTERIOR paint n paint them!!!! Thats what Im doing with the ones I got! It takes 7 or more coats to get them right! so might need to buy 3 or 5 cans!! If I was going to my slavage yard soon I woud pick ya up a set. About ever truck there has them and most of them work great! I did not like the new seat belts or buckles that ever has for sell so I just stayd with the old ones that came with are trucks.

re: Retractable seat belts.
the only difference i can think of is, the retractable ones the adjustable part is the male, on the others(67 for me) the buckle part adjusts.
I would guess that on the retractable ones the length of the buckle portion won't be long enough to come through the seatback and seat.

re: Retractable seat belts.
Read this thread on installing 3 point seatbelts, best thing I ever did to improve the safety of my bump. (the headlight harness upgrade from Paul is a very close second)

What lmc i showing is male retractable that i would bolt to door side same set up as now. Buckle would come up through seat. I guess length would be the issue. Can't go w/3points, po cut holes in in cab corners to install 6.5 round speakers. They border the bolt hole and probobly weaken that point and unsafe to anchor there.
Can't get any tech info from lmc. Im not sure about painting belt webbing i would think being made from nylon that solvent based paint would weaken belt material.

The door side of both of my 68's seat belts are retractable. The driver's side didn't retract when I first got the truck and I pulled a good passenger side retractor apart and installed it in my driver's side assembly. It was a time consuming experiment for me, but it worked fine. I took an additional retractor out of another truck I scoured for parts to have a spare.
I didn't even think to look at the seat belts in this '72 302 Bump that just came into the wrecking yard I go to a few weeks ago while I was unable to get there to look around.
NPD only sells the early Ford style reproduction retractors like the earliest Mustangs had in them and some replacement type lap belts. The ones that go in the Bump seat belts come out fairly easy, you just have to watch that you keep all of the parts together as you remove them.
