HeadLights HELP!!

Post by 1971fordcustom »

Today I get a call from my 16 year old friend saying her headlights wont work any more on her 68! So I run over there in the snow in the 2wd truck! over a foot deep  Well there are no dash lights, head lights but the dome light turns on with the Light switch. So do you all think its the HeadLight switch or not? I think it is but not for sure. I told her mom when it warms up and ever thing is dry I'll work on it! Even THO I HATE WORKING ON SOME ONES STUFF. I might just take off the switch and put it on my truck and see if it works! I did look at all the fuses and there al good.

Good idea using the switch on yours. That sounds like the right place to start. I am not for sure, but there may be a fusible link in the power feed wire to the headlight switch. That could be the problem if there is. It could have burned out.

Also check the high/low beam switch. Not uncommon for these to go bad.

Yeah, just make sure you go with her when she tests it out, and the truck "accidentally" breaks down at a semi opportune time. Like when you're next to a quiet lake somewhere with noone else around...

I think she just wanted to see you and sabataged her switch somehow... probably thought she'd test your dedication and knowledge, too.

Switch first, but also check for in-line fuses under the hood.
