I started to do that, then figured that with the time and effort involved, plus the fact that I HAD to look at each and every oops and OS on it each and every time I drove the dang thing I just went out and bought a DC repro for $120. Seemed like a really good deal at the time and still does.
Grease on the shiny parts keeps the paint from sticking and is easy to clean up.
That looks good. I am going to try that on mine. I have an extra since I bought an F600 gauge bezel so it won't matter if I screw it up.
