Stereo Swap

Post by green68250 »

Well since I will be tearing down my '72 I decided to put the stereo that was in there into my '68. I had the factory AM radio before and had to take it out and bend back the tabs. Then I used the Volvo kit and it turned out pretty good. Its a Kenwood head unit with Alpine 6x9's sitting on the floor. It sound pretty good and is plenty loud. You can also see in th pic the tach and the white guages I added. The pic are toward the bottom of my cardomain page.

Look here...

It is florian67's album. He has already done what I plan on doing...only mine will be angled so the speakers are aimed up towards the passenger and driver.

metra has a kit, if you watch the did you know section at the top of each page.

or if the factory chrome bezel has allready been goof a little cutting here or there with a dremel or cuttoff wheel and the cd will fit and look pretty neat.

Toght i had the pic of the other stereo installed too but looks even nicer this one had a short in the radio that when you kicked the engine over it lost ground long enough to wipe the settings back to factory.
