Steering Wheel

Post by ford4x4fun »

Ok so since all I do, I mean while testing the communications network, is look through pics and brain storm, I was wondering. I really like the 67 and earlier steering wheels. Anyone know which ones will fit on our trucks? I don't know if it makes a difference, but my truck is manual!

Thanks

I couldn't help but notice that it says that your truck is a 71. the older three spoke wheels arn't a direct replacement for the 71 as the center steering shaft is longer on the 70 to 77 trucks and the earlier steering shaft would have to be modified in order to bolt the older three spoke wheel on it. I refurbish a lot of the 3 spoke wheels as I also have an ebay store. They're notorious for cracking at the hub area! A lot of different models of Ford vehicles have the same wheel and are interchangable. The early Mercury Comets & Ford Fairlanes have the same wheel and the difference is the center emblem on the horn ring. If your looking for a refurbed steering wheel (cracks fixed & primed or painted flat black or Navajo white). Pm me. It costs roughly $15.90 to ship a wheel in the USA and depending on if you want the horn ring or not I can go $30.00 + shipping ( for Fordification members.) on a wheel with a horn (button) ring. and $25.00 + shipping for one without a horn (button) ring.

One more thing I forgot to add. the steering wheels run back into the fifties on Ford cars and from 61 to 69 on Ford trucks. The Vans used a different steering wheel other than the 3 spoke. they used the 2 spoke 70 to 77 on the snub nosed Econolines up to the time they went with the column mounted ignition switch.
