Gutting The Factory Radio!

Post by ford4x4fun »

OK, I have a factory Radio, that someone before me has taken apart. It doesn't work so I think they tried to fix it. Anyhow my idea is to gut the factory radio, and run a dash light to the inside of it. So when I turn on my lights, it looks like a working system. I am going to hide and XM Radio under the dash, because I don't change the channels much I won't need real easy access to it. Well anyhow back to my question how hard is it to gut the radio's:? Anyone ever done that :?

hey ford4x4fun

I wouldn't think it would be to difficult to gut it out...
I wonder if the other radio would fit inside the shell...
Maybe when you turned the other radio on, the stock radio face would light up..

dont all the stock radios have a backlight in them when you turn the lights on anyway? maybe you just need to change the bulb in it.

This one has been ripped into not to kindly... I didn't get a good look at it, just pulled it, and tossed it to the side. That was when I was going to put an aftermarket radio in it. Now, I want it to have a stock feel to it, when your sitting in it, I want the new sound quality, with the old feel! And I don't trust the thing not to short out and catch on fire!!!
