Just so I don't hijack another thread, I've seen a thread on here recently about reverse light switches on 3-spd column shifters - there's apparently a bracket hose clamped to the column with a little momentary switch on the end - which I do not have in my truck. THis probably explains the lights not working at all. Does anyone know where I could get the bracket (the other thread had ideas on the switch)? I'm not close to a good junkyard and I don't have the time either. I may just make one, it looks like a pretty simple piece. I could also use any old momentary switch I suppose. Any thoughts?
Second question: My turn signal lights do not work on the right side: the front light comes on but does not blink, and the rear light comes on very very dim, and actually lights up both filaments, as well as both back up lights (L&R, because they're wired together I think). Very dim though. any ideas? I'm reasonably good with electrical stuff, I just haven't had much time to trouble shoot, beyond seeing if there were any really strange things going on with the wires, or obvious ground issues.

re: back up lights and turn signals
you coulod also check the grounds on that side that isnt working and check the bulbs as well you could also check your wires out and see if some one hasnt messed with them ..mine were spliced into a trailer plug with not electrical tape at all just bare wires sticking out every were

Check your grounds first. Pull the tailight lens and body and clean the ground wire behind it. That should clear up the problem.
There's another ground behind the headlight to check as well if it still doesn't work right.

thanks, will check out the grounds later. The wires were spliced into a trailer harness, but it looks pretty good, really. I've seen far, far worse. That will be the first thing to go if I continue to have trouble though. Thanks for the help so far I'll post results to my troubleshooting. Inspection is this month for me so I gotta get moving...

What do you know, after getting a better ground on the RR tail light the blinker works. The backup lights of course I'm waiting for the parts but Underdog was nice enough to offer them to me, so that's awesome! I'll post again when that's fixed, and I'll even pass NH inspection, woo hoo! Now the only thing that doesn't work is the dash lights, but I haven't looked into that one at all yet... could even be a fuse or bulb.
