Turn signal problem
Went back about a year in the posts and did not find anything that seemed to match exactly what I am experiencing. The turn signals do not light on the dash when engaged for either left or right nor do the exterior bulbs. If I engage either signal it will click like it should if they were blinking once and then stop. If I turn the four way flashers on all of the exterior lights blink and the lights in the bezel work.
Thoughts. I checked the fuses and then engaged the wiper and wiper washer motor and both were good. Could it be the flasher or should I take the wheel off and check the switch??

re: Turn signal problem
I would try the Flasher first as it is the easiest and that could be all that it is... But after that it is probably the Turn Signal Switch that is the problem...

re: Turn signal problem
Hey 69twotone
Thanks to Thunderfoot and Underdog97, I'm getting pretty good at trouble shooting and fixing turn signal problems.
It sounds like you definately have a bad flasher unit.
There are two of them, one for the turn signals and one for the e-flasher.
I'd replace that first.
Since they all flash with e-flasher swich, there isn't any ground or wiring issues to the lights, and the bulbs are good.
If it still doesn't work after replacing the flasher unit, it's most likely in the turn signal switch itself.
It could be as simple as dirty corroded contacts or a burnt out switch.
Underdog97 sells them on ebay, but also sells them dirct to use here on the forum.
He's a heck of good guy besides.
Between us, well help ya get yer signal problem figured out.

There are two flasher units and If changing the flasher unit doesn't do the trick then I'd suspect the turn signal switch itself. The emergency flashers & turn signals are two seperate systems with the Emergency flashers overriding the turn signals. Since the turn signal flasher unit clicked once it sounds like the culprit though. I believe at one point we also were talking about steering wheels and how to refurbish the 3 spoke wheels. My question is wether or not this problem occured after removing the old wheel or before? I do have a 67 to 69 switch if it turns out that you do need one.

re: Turn signal problem
Thanks guys for the quick and detailed replies. Two more questions.
1. I found one flasher unit that hangs down between the ashtray and radio behind the dash. Is this the one for the turn signals or is it right behind the bezel?
2. Is the flasher something I can pick up in a parts store or is it considered obsolete? Which means a trip to the pick and pull (which would be ok since I always enjoy it).

i beleive the one behind the ash tray is e-flashers and turns are behind the cluster.
and yes you can get them at the parts store you can even get the solid state/electronic version.
