installing ac in 70 ford ranger
I am having some trouble installing the ac in my truck. its a brief case style ac unit. My concern is if I already have the wiring under the dash for it from the factory or if i am going to have to install that myself. next question is if the control levers are all the same from 68-72 for this style ac system. thanks for any help

Is this a factory unit or an after market? If it's after market there's no integrating any of its controls, or wiring, with the stuff in your truck already. The controls should be on the unit itself* and the only wiring is a ground, a hot and a lead to the compressor.
(* unless it's one of those new units someone posted a link to recently, it looks like those actually do integrate with the original heater controls.)
Pics will be good if you need help IDing.

I think itmy be factory unit. it takes the place of the heater box that it currently has. It does not have any controls on the unit at all. it looks like it bolts up to the dash on the pass side and tkes a smaller glove box liner.

Yes, that's a factory unit then. You're going to need the proper controls.

re: installing ac in 70 ford ranger
here are some pictures of the ac unit I am planning on installing. I have found a total of 4 wires so far that I dont know were to connect them to also need to know what to connect the tstat to. are these plugs already on my truck under the dash even though I dont have ac on it or is this part of the control lever assembly?

First you need to get the controller and the wiring that goes with it. From the last time I looked at this, I remember that a bunch of those "where do these go" wires go to the controller. I think you should end up just hooking up a wire that is hot and running a wire to the compressor. I know keith has the wiring diagrams posted up on the front page. Take a look there. It should show everything.
