Hey everyone. I just built a dash insert and installed my new gauges yesterday. I used a factory instrument cluster bezel that a P.O. had already cut a hole in so I didn't feel bad about cutting the center out of it to attach the plate and accept the VDO Cockpit style gauges. huh?

Looks pretty cool. What did you do for turn signals etc? I did a custom panel for a '88 T bird a couple years ago and used a step drill set for depth to punch some same sized contoured holes in the metal for the lights to shine through. Ended up just siliconing the original lamp fixtures to the back of the aluminum.
but what the hell is all that wire hanging out under the dash?????
As a metter of fact, i AM trying to keep up with the Jones'

I'm going to drill 3 more holes for the turn signal and high beam indicators. The light I end up picking will dictate the size of hole. I'll use two green and a blue (maybe LED's). Fiber optics are cool too but too high tech for the 'rat rod' look.

Oh, you don't like that? Relax. I'm in the middle of rewiring the whole truck. That's all of the dash wiring waiting to go in. Note the late model style blade type fuses and the fuse block mounted in the same location as the stock glass tubes.

Thanks and yeah, the shifter is looong. Just wait until I get a knob on it with a little more attitude!
EDIT: like this one!

Looks good man. A little time and effort goes a long way in making a statement.

i'm thinking about grabbin' the block from a newer f150 or bronco and soldering the original wires to the back of the block where they belong.

fuelly.com
It's an EZ Wiring kit. The fuse panel is almost exactly the same size as the original (mounted in the same place too) but it has the blade type fuses rather than the glass tubes. I have extra circuits for A/C, electric fan, electric fuel pump, power windows/locks, etc. but I doubt I will use most of the extras...at least for now.
