Fried wiring...

Post by kaptnkaos »

I spent yesterday afternoon, trying to figure out why my lights and stuff wouldn't work on the camper.
I have no power inside and none of the marker/tail, turn signal, or brake lights work on it.
I am currently using a set of the U-haul lights with pigtails hooked to my
truck lights. so it is drawing twice the power it should.

I was kinda surprized... when I removed the cover to the battery box...
All of the wires were melted and it had nearly started a fire in the battery box.
It wasn't like that before, so that happened after I plgged it into the my truck harness.
Now, I guess I have some questions.

Has anyone worked with Conestoga Campers before?

Are Dodges really wired backwards???

This camper was used on a Dodge Power Wagon by the PO.
I know that all the wiring on the truck end is correct...
as I have painstakingly rewired and triple checked everything.
It seems like things are mislabled on the camper panel and nothing seems to match my truck wiring.

Thanks in advance,
