2002 F150 60/40 Power Seat Swap

Post by mbuchman »

Hi there. So quick background I am now the proud owner of a 72 F100 4X4 360 LWB Styleside. Loving this forum and site for information. So first upgrade I am going for is to switch out the bench seat for the buckets from a 2002 150 with the 60/40 power drivers. Pictures to come as I find the time to work starting today I hope. Any info or advice would be greatly appreciated. Got the seats in perfect condition from a local junkyard for $200 and they have the integrated 3 points which takes care of another major issue (lap belts are not the most comforting for safety). Quick question if anyone would know but is there any reason I cannot swap for the bed tank to gain some room in the cab? I only ask because all the bed tanks say they are for 2wd and I have a 4X4. I cant think of any conflict but just wondering if anyone has done this already.

Cheers
:fr:

:wel: to FORDification and congrats on your recent acquisition of your truck! When you get a chance, introduce yourself and your truck, with pics if possible, in the "Welcome Mat" area.

As far as your seat swap, it can be done, but you'll have to do some fabricating to the seat frame and/or your truck, but it can be done. You can read more here:http://www.fordification.com/seats.htm

Good luck with your projects! Keep us updated with the seat install, with pics if possible :D

The slight issue with this seat swap as opposed to the ones in the seat section is there is no easy "swap of tracks" but man the seats are worth it. So when i am done hopefully my pictures and story will help others. Also i love the look of the 2002-2004 seats
So have you heard of anyone doing the 4X4 gas tank relocation or know why it could not be done? Also I have a full shop with a 240 welder and plasma cutter etc.. so slight mods are not a problem :D

Not sure about the gas tank relocation, but somebody else might know around here. Did you get your seat installed yet? :pop:

my newer split bench has a fold down center, and it hits the tank when its folded up/down. the truck i got it out of had its tank bashed in to allow for this space. if it doesnt have a center tilt it should be fine for tank clearence.

and for the underbed tank swap, i dont think you could do it for a 4x4 because the tank stretches from the underbed area to the undercab and i believe it would interfere with the T-case.

:wel: From the Southerntier of NY---did a job up in Malone--long time ago
and your definatly up North. Sounds like ya got the shop to accomplish any swap you want to do. IMO the in frame tank is fairly simple as long as you get all the parts and hangers that go with it,but I know some of the guys
have used( jeep or bronco tank??)other tanks to get the job done
I've had enough and I'm not alone

so since that worked here are some more looks at bracket fitment
here is the drivers front brackets as you can see they sit a little high
Image
but with a little plasma cutting you can nip it to this
Image
so if you look at the up center of this picture you can see how the rear inside bracket of the drivers seat sits funny
Image
but some slight bending can fix that
Image
Image
and here is an extraneous bracket on the outside of the drivers seat that just needed to go
Image

more to come soon to show passenger seat and final install
