Interior close to completion but need opinions

Post by F100builder »

Well, I completed the wiring and the painting/rebuild of my steering column (new signal switch, bearings, etc.). The thing looks like a giant Mag-Lite!
So, what do you guys think about a red carpet and headliner to match the wheels and some day the motor/trans? Visor color? I'm still toying with the idea of red door panels too but it may be too much red. Besides, I kind of like the satin black door framing the gloss black panels (the dashboard and column are gloss black too as you can probably tell!).
Let me hear some thoughts and opinions! Thanks! :D

a buddyof mine had a little black nissan car that had red interior, it didnt look to bad, but it still was to much red. I think red door panels would be to much, but, visors and things would look good

Me personally...

no red panels in the interior. I'm just not a fan. :2cents:

Maybe some pen striping or outlining?

My cousin has a '75 F100 with a red seat, red carpet, and red door panels. I don't have a pic handy, but the thing looks nice. I'm more of a blue guy, but the red looked dang good! :2cents:

I'm not a fan of the flat black. It looks like primer. All gloss black looks a lot better. I do like the red wheels though! But I hate the floor shifter. Floor shifters are for manuals IMHO. The automatic floor shifter looks ghetto. :2cents:

he's going for the rat rod theme (and he sure got it 8) ) and flat black is the best way to do it, plus he is only using this paint as a temporary until he can really tare the truck down for a resto.

i agree with 72stepside on the pinstriping, and red stitching on a black seat... it would look damn good

Is the seat going to stay as is, or were thinking of changing it too? Really its personal preference, doesn't matter was us goofballs think. I'm doing red and black interior for my truck, but my cab is red, so most of my interior pieces (visors, carpet, door panels, etc) are/will be black. I think since your cab is black, some red accents will set it off nicely, and bring the red wheels together with rest of the truck. Personally, I'd dig it

Red arm rests only... Maybe?

Not a big fan of solid red interiors. Red arm rests and maybe the seat would look decent.

It's hard to keep a theme going without getting too many different themes going.

IMHO I'd replace the instrument cluster with a plain non diamond plate version with swirls or flip the existing one and swirl it like the '70's trans ams and mach 1 clusters or put some more diamond plate somewhere else in the interior to make it look like it belongs. Kind of grabbing your eye right now instead of fitting in with all the other cool stuff that's been done.

A big honk'n red shifter ball would be fitting (maybe a 5 ball? (I think the 5 was red) or a white w red stripe)

Or Black carpet, visors and head liner, red door panels and armrests, black seat. Red shifter ball and tone down the instrument cluster a bit (plossibly bead blast?) Nothing's screaming for attention and everything compliments everything else.

A lot of cool things to be played with that would look relatively stock.

the problem with these trucks is that there is no major horizontal mid-line to break the cab in half for a split color.
i think your interior looks good like it is.
if i were to go black and red inside, i would have painted the column and steering wheel rangoon red with some red arm rests and a black and red seat, leaving everything else black. jmho.
since you already painted the column black you could just go with rd carpet and a red or red/black seat. again, jmho.
anyway, i think it looks good as is.

I like the way youve done it so far. Ive always been a big fan of black on black. Flat and gloss, with the satin finish alum. Sometimes people tend to over do it with red. Small amounts of red, like the stitching or pin striping would look cool. imho. But remember what they say about opinions, theyre like......, well you know. Youre the one who rides in it, so do whatever makes you happy.

BTW, the shifter looks darn good. My dad had a 57 ford (car) with shifter handle like that. It had a chrome skull at the top, and he ground some finger grooves about halfway down so he could shift it quicker when he was doing alittle racing. Keep us posted with pics.

Not Quite. The 11 ball is red with the stripe. Starting at 9, they start all over with a stripe instead of a full color.

Now the 3 ball would look cool as it is solid red. The 11 would look cool if your truck was red and white. If Only they made a black and red stripe...
