Currently the truck has a column for a manual trans but the donor truck had a C6 in it wth a column shift. That is what I want in my truck. The new column I have has a bunch of different wires coming out of it. What do they go to??? Any help would be great... I will be able to post pics on wed if needed...
Thanks- 390F100

re: Steering Column ???
Hey 390F100,
Those would be the wires coming from the turn signal switch.
Depending on what year the column is it should have one or two plastic plugs.
'67-'69 have two plugs '70 -'72 have one (same wires just a different plug)

I think they are for the neutral safety switch and reverse lights.

re: Steering Column ???
Here's a pic of the different wiring plugs that can come out of the column.
![Image](http://www.fordification.com/images/steering-column_connectors.jpg)
The wire functions include, L&R turn signals, brake lights, horn, tail lights, e-flashers.
Many times if you are having problems with any of these circuits, it could be the turn signal switch.
There should be no wires coming out of the column itself for the neutral safety switch.
The neutral safety switch is attached to the outside of the column by 2 screws.
It could be attached to the column, but the wires would be coming from it, not out of the column.

390F100,
Does your current truck have Saginaw PS? If so, I know someone who would be very interested in the column.

re: Steering Column ???
WOW!!! you guys are outstanding...
First off thanks to everyone who replied and second thank you to kaptn for your in depth response, my bump is a 68 so i'm guessing by your pics it does have two plugs, to be honest i havent pulled it out of the truck yet to even look. but the bump it came from was a 70 so splicing the wires would be a simple task to switch plugs to match with what the truck currently has.
As to flyboy, I have no idea, I think the gear box is the longer of the two that were available in the 68. If that means saginaw then lets make a deal....It is actually in great shape. Painted a very nice yellow. Too bad I hate the color yellow otherwise my interior would be almost complete.

re: Steering Column ???
Hey 390F100...
If you are swapping columns, you really don't need to splice any wires, unless the plug (S) have been already cut off.
The wires terminate with a metal tip with a tang on it that holds them in the plastic plug.
There is a specific tool you can buy at NAPA for a few a bucks or, you can use a very small flat screw driver to push in the tang as you gently pull on the wire.
It can be stubborn, but it will come out, just be careful to not pull the wire to hard and brake the metal tip off.
You will need to do the same thing to both columns and transfer the wires from the new column to the old plugs...
Do your self a big favor before you begin, draw a diagram of each plug and where each color goes.
A couple of the colors changed but the functions didn't.
They just combined the two plugs into one.
Thanks to MR Thunderfoot, I have the diagrams and wire functions to do the cross over if ya need them.
I also have the wiring diagrams and the Ford shop manuals for '68 F/B series trucks F-100 and up.
If you need and info I'd be glad to hook ya up.
Believe me, it's alot easier than it sounds.

re: Steering Column ???
Thanks Kaptn.
I'm was gonna buy a new intake and carb off summit but a local performance shop in Mesa,Az called Lopers has it for the same price so I will be picking it up probably tomorrow and heading out to the location of the truck to continue my project so as soon as I start again I will let you know of the column progress and let you know if I need those diagrams, I appreciate your help, if it weren't for you that column would be all messed up.
Thanks again-390
