Need a 3rd Seat Belt So 2 kids can ride w/me.

Post by 71Ford »

I'm sorry if this question has been answered before. I tried to do a search and found 1,200 possible answers...but I don't have time to sort thru them all.

I need a 3rd Seat Belt in my truck so my daughter can ride w/my son and I. I there any kind of adapter/contraption/invention to connect w/ the passenger seatbelt etc., that will enable me to install another(total of 2 carseats needed) ?

Thanks,
Shawn

what we did, and alot of other people, is bolt the far passenger side of the 3rd belt to the factory mounting hole, then mount the left side of that belt to the same mounting as the passenger belt.
kinda confusing to explain but basically you double up on one of the mounts.

should be a third mount point unless your bucket seats originally, then the holes are there but under the carpet.

or ford might have doubled up on the one or two mounts like 71ford said. been awhile since i looked.

My 72 is doubled up on one side best of my memory. Don't know if Ford did it or if the earlier "engineer" who owned my truck did!! He could really "engineer" some messes.

I have a '72 Camper Special Ranger XLT that I'm parting out. I took some pics of the seat belts for you to use as a reference. Mine has the 3rd seat belt.

I just put a new floor mat in my '69 and it only has two anchor points as mentioned before. Looks like doubling up is the way to go.

You would think so, but it looks like that's the way Ford did it. I can't say for sure because mine didn't have the middle belt, but I know there are only two mounting points in the middle area of the cab on mine. I don't know where else they could possibly attach.
