Aluminum Diamond Plate vs Stainless Steel Diamond Plate

Aluminum Diamond Plate vs Stainless Steel Diamond Plate

I have a question after searching through the photo albums, and getting ideas I have come to the conclusion that I want to use this in the cab of my truck. Black and diamond plate. Out of these two types which is easier to work with, and what would be the best way to cut the pieces that I need. I plan on doing the front of the dash, and the center console that I make, and a decorative piece to go behind the seats and hold the speakers (with the gas tank removed)

These are the styles I have to work with in steel…

This is what I am looking at with the Aluminum…

Any and all comments welcome

Stainless with hold up better, but heavier and a real pain to cut.
I use my table saw with a 80 tooth triple chip blade and cutting wax to cut aluminum. You can only do this with non-ferous metals.

I used aluminum diamond plate on a custom switchboard I built for a yacht, it is so easy to cut and work with, though it scratches easy so you have to protect it as you work on it. Using it in your interior it should hold up well.

The stainless is beautiful, but as Scott said, its heavy and way harder to work with.

You can work aluminum with wood cutting tools. Stainless is pretty hard to work with. It will eat up blades and bits.

Interesting link. I was quoted $416 for a sheet of 48 x 96 x .250" flat aluminum locally for the mill projects. Felt violated when I left...
