Stangconv's 68 F-100 Project

Hey I am going to start tearing into my 68 F100 here soon... (within a week or so) I put a tent garage up to hopefully Shelter me from some of this Canadian winter... Hopefully a heater can keep me toasty while tearing it apart. My plan is to get it stripped to frame by the end of winter. I want to be able to do the lowering and disc brakes in the spring. I also have another child due in May so hopefully I get lots done before then!!!

Heres some pics of the truck...











It looks in rough shape.. and it is.. however the big thing is there is almost no rust..

Here is my plan:
Full frame up rebuild
390 mild hotrodding
4 speed tranny
ford 9" rear
Drop beams and reversing the rear hangers
Rims & Tires,
Disc Power Brake conversion
Power sterring conversion.
Newer Ford seats
And whatever else I find along the way..

I got a local artist to draw a picture of what I want my end result to be....



I left it colorless, because I am not sure what color I want it to be....

I colored some quickly myself to see what I like... I like the yellow with the black hood..but noone else here does...





I think I am going to be painting this myself with the tremclad method... I know some of you are probally cringing when you hear that.. but it makes alot of sense to me... as I want it to be a very nice driver, I dont want to worry about the paint getting dinged at the mall, or worry about driving on gravel. And then I ahve more moeny to put into the engine.

This is the order I am setting for myself... Does this sound good?

Strip it down to frame (clean up & paint frame)
Suspention and Brakes
Test fit motor and drivetrain.
Put body back on with new mounts etc.
Body work get everything straight
Tear apart paint.
Reassemble

Look for more updates coming within the next couple weeks, and any advice you have would be wonderful!!!!

Wow, that seat...it gave me the heaves just looking at it.

Yeah it looks decieving... WHile its not in the best shape... that is an old ratty blanket sitting on there....
But its got to go anyways...

Although a recovering would proablly work wonders!!

I agree with your wife. But what if you made the black go partially into the fenders somehow?

Yeah I guess I am the only one... Oh well... I have lots of time to think about it... Orange might be cool, but I like the straight Yellow...

I would like to do black... but since I am doing my own bodywork... Probally not the best choice

Hey thanks... I need to find some pics of an Orange bump... I have been liking the sounds of Orange too...

I dont want to have the truck done by May... I just want to get it stripped down and maybe the get the Discs and have it lowered by then... I dont get a lot of time to work on the truck, with a pretty demanding Job and family...

I am thinking its gonna take a couple years to get the truck done.

Well I stole someones picture of the yellow, and I played with osme photoshop last night at work (well GIMP really) and I cam up with osme interesting colors...

Yeah I have been over that... these seats are too new, but I am sure I will be able to figure something out!!

I bought a tilt steering column today... and I figured I better get a steering wheel to go with it...



Come Summertime I figure I am going to be pretty broke, so I best be getting the spending out of the way right now. (plus I have a large unfinished basement to store this stuff in.)

I need to buy some drop beams now....
