hello my name is joe im 19 and new to this site, i have a 1969 ranger swb with a 460/c6 and two problems i have is one im to tall two my heater doesnt work like it should.
now as far as the heater goes i found out whats wrong and what i found was theres a door right beside the fan and its down keeping the heated air from goin to my feat or windshield witch is what i really need it for now what i can't figure out is what keeps this door open? its just a door that i can grab its pin and turn it to open it. now on to the next one, im 6'3'' 250lbs and i have a bench seat witch i do like but i really want buckets and i saw a guy on here (screen name 1bad71f100) that has toyota paseo seats and i would really like to do that but i need to know how he mounted them. now i know any for bench up to a 96 will bolt in but i dont really want a bench anymore so lookin for a already tested bugs worked out work done for me way of mounting some bucket seat . thanks for help in advance. btw will post pics soon.
does the heater pin that you can move have the cable hooked on it? is there a cable there at all? i have some used cables if you happen to need them. if it does have a cable and its working good it could be that the flapper on the pin is broken off. and not changing from one side to the other. i also have that if you need it. the seat deal is prety much up to you. what ever you can make fit with or without the use of the original seat tracks will be what you want to do.
thats what get me theres not any cables missing that i can tell, it has 2 calbles one goes the the valve inline of the heater hose under the hood and the other goes to a flapper/door that say off or defrost on the controls. so even if this door by the fan had a cable what would control it?
On the Passenger side, there is a plastic lever that looks to be a part of the duct for the heater and it is right against the side of the truck, (front of passenger door). There should be some lettering saying "Vent" and "Heat" or something similar. Make sure that is not on "Vent" and is on "Heat." This will really let in cold air if on Vent. Also, be sure the Driver's side Vent is closed. If unfamiliar with the lever and the slider controls, you can almost freeze yourself out. Just my
What ever happened to the age-old practice of just "Minding Your Own Business?"
ok im missing a cable then im missing the heater cable its the first door the air comes to and in the picture of the panel itself its called heater control. and in the picture of the heater box and fan its called just heater, so what controls this heater cable? the same control/ slide nob that controls the heater hose valve?
right the heater one is what i need. what through me off was i didnt know that the defroster slide had 2 cables hooked up to it thanks everybody and btw
thanks but unless the one i have is broke i dont need one. i found THE cable that i needed the PO just stuck it up under the dash not hooked up or anything tommorrow i will see what i can do thanks for all the help guys. btw i posted pictures in the welcome mat.
about 2:30 or #;00 this morning i saw stacey david on his show gearz on the speed channel. he was talking about putting seats in this roadster he had there. he was saying that in make the seat fit you wanted to have the seat sit so you could look through the center of the windshield make sure the seat was centered so that and leg action didnt hit the door or the shifter and had the correct seat adjustment movement from front o back. and he is right. i just never gave it any thought. when other keep asking about what seat they can or cant use in there truck. well that is the thing right there you want to watch out for when selecting a new seat for your truck. bench or buckets either or.
good news guys i got the cables hooked up and its working good now thanks for the help. but now im moving on the the seat and i don't really understand how the newer seats just bolt in these old truck the seats do not mount the same, my front mounts on my bench looks like this _ and all the other seats 80s-90s the front mounts look like this / the floor in my truck is flat and the ones in a newer truck where the front seat mounts is on a 45 or so angle so what gives? or do i have to unnbolt my bench tracks and bolt that on to the new seat? i really want this to be a bolt in deal not because im lazy (well that too) but because i want it to look stock or like it came with that seat, not some half way hack job. sorry if im being a pain i just keep reading BOLT IN BOLT IN BOLT IN and it just doesnt seem that way. i will shut up now.
the seat racks come off of the seat themselves. with two bolts per size. its not fun taking them off but it canbe done. it just takes a few minutes more than it really should. once you get both seat racks off of both seats you put the original tracks on the new seat. depending on the seat will depend on wheather or not the seat will bolt up to the older tracks. i think. most newer seats will but i am unsure on the exact years that will and wont bolt up.
