AOD behind a 390?
Can any of the AOD (automatic) trannies live behind a 390 and still be a drop-in installation (slight modifications would be okay)?

It wont be a "Drop In" but you can use a number of different Trans from Ford AOD's to Chevy AOD's with and Adaptor plate. Most of the Adaptor plate out there run around $750 and up.

I did this 2 yrs ago, unfortunately am having torque converter issues (not a reason not to do- stuff happens- even to C-6's) at present (Trans Overheats when in OD because TC is bad) but taking it to shop next week. Nothing like cruising 75mph at 2200rpm (with 3.55 r&p). You have to shorten driveshaft and relocate crossmember, and use a floor shifter (though there are now some cable linkages that may solve that issue).ttyR2 wrote:Can any of the AOD (automatic) trannies live behind a 390 and still be a drop-in installation (slight modifications would be okay)?

CACWBY,
Whats a Good time to call you tomorrow as I've found something out that may/should help out the over heating problem and still use a Good Stall.
