Heavy Duty Headlight Harness from LMC?

Post by Chaseman »

Has anybody bought and installed the Heavy Duty Headlight Harness from LMC? Is it worth it? Or is it better to just make one myself?

Thanks

those are the same ones 390 nut is making. they are for making your headlights brighter or for upgrading to a more powerful bulb.

I am stoked about 390nut building more of the harness' I have been reading up on the more powerful alternator upgrade which will be nice to have as well.

I installed the LMC harness and it was very easy and seems to work great.

Only slip up I had was I grounded each of the bulb sockets into metal near the grill and the lights didn't work.

I later realized that the metal was mounted to the grill which was aluminum and wasn't a good ground.

I just drilled a couple of small holes into the rad support and it worked great!

the only problem i had with the harness from lmc is that on my 67 it was almost to short to go from one side of the head lights to the other... it was a very tight fit.
I don't really care about brands Chevy Ford Dodge ...as long as it doesn't sound like two old dudes farting in a coffee can.

cool , I think I'll get it cause it's a bit less then 390nut's not that I don't appreciate the option of his harness.
And thanks for the quick reply's to my question. I kinda need to buy one cause I get the blinking headlight syndrome with the high beams on.

Bigger wires won't solve that problem you are overloading the circuit breaker built into the light switch. My 69 did that so I put the lights on a dual pole dual throw relay. The relay used bigger wire direct from the battery and switched both high and low the original high beam wire switched the relay. My 71 with the same headlights does not have that problem. Must be a different light switch for the 71.

That is basically what the LMC kit is... http://www.lmctruck.com/ICATALOG/FB/full.aspx?Page=59 It is just not as clean of an install as 390nuts kit.
