Theft devices
Any ideas on theft devices other than alarm systems, such as kill switches or fuel blocks. If you don't want to share live you can pm me. I can just see someone stealing my bump her in Dallas. These trucks are so easy to hot wire.

Re: Theft devices
simple thing to do is if its a auto or a manual find the wire that goes through the nuetral saftey switch...red w/ a blue stripe. That is your start wire to the start solinoid. Put a HIDDEN but fairly easy to reach toggle switch on that wire, HEck even probally could be in plain sight.
My 67 had a good one that came with the truck the auto shifter saftey switch was out of alingment and you had to hold the shifter in the right spot for it to start.
If you have duel tanks the selector on the fllor next to the seat should have a empty spot that is for a third tank flip that switch over to that tank that doesnt exsist it will start and run till the carb drains and then die.
remember one of the members here took a shut off switch and ran the gas line up to the front bumper and had the shut off there and then up to the carb
Just a few simple things....

Re: Theft devices
I prefer a gun and a horn tied to the door switches that passes through a switch in the front fender,
Last time I chased a tool thief here in town the police kept my 357 for a whole week.
My shell has a switch that does the same thing and he snuck up to the back of the truck and popped the lock trying to steal my demolition saw. The horn went off and I chased him until the police showed up a block away. I gave them the bullets with one hand and the gun with the other. They gave it back with a grin.

Re: Theft devices
We used to put the hot terminal of a Model T coil on the body and the ground end on a wire that dragged the ground. The bat wire went through an insulated switch. The Model T did not have a Dizzy with points just a rotor and cap the coil was in a wooden box and fired constantly about 100 times a second. So if you grounded the coil wire to the body the body was hot and if you had old leather soled shoes you conducted real well and got about 500 volts.

Re: Theft devices
See, that's why I love this place! I''ve learned more in one thread than a year of thinking!
I used to pull the coil wire and rotor when I left it in long term parking at the airport. Small parts, stick them in the carry on, or even a jacket pocket.
Once when I got back home from a week long trip I had a hard time finding them in my luggage, so from then on I just started hiding them somewhere else on the truck - like that cavity behind the seat at the cab corners, or inside the wire mesh on the back of the seat.
I like the idea about the hidden toggle on the coil wire.

I miss my old manual choke.SteveC wrote:manual choke works fine for most younger kids.... unless they are farm boys or been around the hot rod's a lot.
You know what else does it when you tell someone its a stick and its got no power brakes or steering. I can't say how many people wanted to drive my truck until they learned about the power nothing

Re: Theft devices
that would do it to... i will say that it was a bit hard to get use to a stick shift with no pwer steering. You know your strong when you can turn around a sharp corner with one hand and power steering
