Thanks for the responses guys, but what I should have said was I am looking at a "dash cap" not a "dash pad." I would love to replace the whole pad, but just don't have the funds at the moment. I am just doing a mild restoration on the interior and think that the plastic black cover will do for now. Seems like they run around $100. Anyone think that i would be better off spending only $50 on the carpet like dash cover instead?

Also...any pros or cons in dealing with BOTP?

I can't speak for BOTP's dash cap, but I have bought an abundance of parts from them over the years and have been satisfied. They are only about 25 miles from me, so I pick all my stuff up, which helps. The owner is extremely nice, knowledgeable, and helpful.

About a carpet dash cover...I have never seen one in our trucks, just in later model pickups, and I never really cared for them because of all the different shapes of the dash. I figured in our trucks with a relatively flat and straight dash, it probably wouldn't look that bad. If the plastic dash cap is really only a temp fix and will only last about a year before popping up, then I would rather spend less money now on the carpet cover and save for a dash pad replacement down the road. Thoughts?...Do the plastic covers hold up well over time?

I appreciate the heads up too about carpet stock instead of the molded carpet peice...not a bad idea.

bumpers only cost 60.00 in shipping at the most. the carpeted dash pads i have seen in our trucks on ebay and on here also. they end at the front top part of the dahs. i dont like that idea. sure as anything i would be reaching up on top of the dash to get something and i would catch the carpet with my hand or coat every single time.

I think I'll go the palstic cap route...really would not be saving that much by using the carpet instead. I'll just take my time during install and make sure its done right. Thanks guys.
