Door Jam Switches???

Post by Jay's67F100 »

So when I open the doors on my 67, the Dome Light doesn't go on. I can make it go on by turning the Headlight switch, but that's it. I looked in the door jams for the switches, and there isn't any. Did some 67's not have them? I see no sign of there ever being any. There's a 3-4" sized hole in the jam where there looks like a vent plate or something could or should be screwed over it. I'd take a picture but I'm at work and don't have my regular camera, and my cell cam doesn't have a flash.

Thanks!

i dont have a picture handy but theres ahole in each jamb that is about 3/4 in. if some pulled the switch out the dome light just wont come on, like you describe. pretty sure they were standard but i could be wrong. sounds like you just need to get the switches. look in past the hole you mentioned there will be some wires in there somewhere for them

Thanks! I figured it should have them. The hole I'm talking about is squarish and almost big enough for me to stick my hand through. It has 3 smaller holes around it, where it looks like a small screw would go. I can kinda look down into the hole but I can't see much since it's dark. I don't think the switch would be that large would it?

there is a little bracket that goes over the squareish hole and holds the door switches.
My 67 didnt have them either i got the brackets from on of the trucks i junked and made a harness from looking at diagrams on here..all i had were the factory ends brackets and switches

no problem glad to help. the harness needed for them to work is tied into the main harness but its not to hard to make one if you have the factory ends

Awesome! I'll make sure to snag the factory ends when I get the switches/brackets. I'll see if the wires are tucked down in the door, but I don't think I saw any. Thanks again! 8)

if you get the right truck you can pull the whole door light switch harness in one piece. some trucks had it as a dealer add on. other trucks had it from the factory and the dome light switch wiring was wrapped up in the main harness. check it before you start cutting wires.

Will do! There's a big truck wrecker in town I'll pay a visit to in a couple weeks.
