OT 94 f250 mini starter to larger starter

Post by fordman »

my mini starter onmy 94 went bad onme friday night. the junkyard was out of them. i dont have the 100.00 plus dollars to buy a new one right now. my truck must be going by monday morning. i have several large older starters that are in perfect condition. how was it that you reverse engineer the wiring from the solinoid to work with the older type starters? i know i read it on here once but i couldn't find it.

You will have to use a starter solenoid and wire it in-line to the starter as the mini starters basically have the solenoid built into them (take more amps to activate then the old starter solenoid on the fender though)
Then use the activation wire for the mini starter to activate the in-line starter solenoid.

Here are the instructions on how to wire a mini starter in an old rig using the in-line starter solenoid.

If it Looks good and Works good then it's ok by me. Everything has its issues from time to time...
