What does this go to?

I bought a steering column for my 72 sport custom and the old one didnt have one but the one I bought does.

that is the neutral saftey switch plug. the plug is for the backup lights and the no start in any gear except park or neutral on a automatic transmission equipped truck. if you have a manual transmission in your truck and it ran fine before just ignore that wire. itisnt used in a manual transmission truck. the wiring harnes should have the backup light switch elsewhere and the nss will be by passed with a plug into the wiring harness.

Both trucks were automatic. Should the other end of that be under the dash or the body somewhere?I looked under the dash and could not see it anywhere.

yes uit shoukl dbe on the drivers side of the colum up inside of the wiring harness mayeb up on the hook on the firewall above the fuse box. i think they looped dangling plugs up there. unless someone cut it off and rerouted it to the transmission. has the transmission beeen changed out to a newer 73-79 transmission? the wire colors will be the same colros on the harness plug red w black stripe and black w red stripe two of each color.

I found the other end and as I expected it was cut off and the nuteral safety switch bypassed.Guess someone didnt want to pay $120.00 for a new one.

i've seen them on ebay fo rabotu 15.00 plus shipping. and no one bought it.
