72 F100 Bright lights problem

Ok, here is the deal...when I am driving my truck at night, I can activate the bright lights and they will come on and stay on for some time and then after a little bit they will shut off...all dash lights stay on, etc etc...then they will come back on and shut back off for a minute...I can cycle back to low beams and they will work...dimmer is new...H/L switch is fairly new...headlights are new...cleaned the grounds at the bulbs...any thoughts?

Low beams will run always...they will never do this...even did it while sitting in my driveway...

There is a self resetting circuit breaker built into the headlight switch that will turn on and off like that. Either it is not working correctly (they get weak and trip too easy) or your high beams are pulling excessive amperage for some reason, such as newer, higher wattage bulbs.

Add a relay setup to eliminate the load on the headlight switch. lots of info on how to do it.
