Backup lights

Post by michael69 »

What is the best way to make backup lights work after changing from a 3 speed on column to an automatic column. It is a 73 - 75 column don't have a neutral saftey switch on it. I have a 77 c6 and it does not have a switch on it either. Will one of the later transmission mount switches work and does it just plug in to the plug that was on the 3 speed column?

You will want to use the trans mounted switch for Neutral safety and backup lights. The plug will not just plug into the old truck plug, you will have to do some adapting. I would connect it at the jumper plug under the dash where both these wires are at. :2cents:

I'm interested in this topic as well.. I THINK my truck originally came as a column shift manual, and the PO put in an automatic trans + column. No safety switch on the column, and no switch on the trans. Do I just need the neutral safety switch?
