Post by fordman »

my brothers has central heat and air in his mobile home. the unit runs all the tiem when the a/c is on. it wont shut off when you turn the thermostat up to 90. or turn the thermostat switch to off. i tried switching otu the thermostat also. and the same thing. it just keeps running. i even tried disconneting the thermostat while the unit was running. and it still didnt shut off. why wont it turn off. did a short get in the thermostat wires and ge them crossed? or is it inthe manual swithces ont he interior box for the a/c controls.

The relay in the unit itself is probably stuck in the on position. Just pull the access door off the front and you should see all the electrical stuff. Being outside they are prone to corrosion. I had one years ago, I know. Let us know if that is it.

yes we have narrowed it down to either that switch getting stuck on or the heat cool swithc on the blower. i donthave the contacts to try and see if it will work with a different set . but i do have a heat cool switch. i think i need to hit the junkyard in the morning and get a used one. i hope they are pretty similar. atleast i know what units to get one from. the units i have in the garage are not the right sized ones so i dont think they will work.
