License Plate Lights on my 67

Post by Jay's67F100 »

So I got pulled over a couple nights ago, for not having working license plate lights. And since it was on Friday nite after midnite, I got to do the whole song and dance of the CHP officer making sure I wasn't "under the influence". Which I wasn't, but I understood since he's just doing his job. In the end he let me go and just told me to get it fixed.

The original owner removed the stock bumper, and replaced it with a big diamond plate type bumper. The guy I bought it from removed that, and put an original Styleside bumper back on but didn't hook up the license plate lights. The lights are there, but the wires are cut. One white wire coming from each light housing.

I was looking over the wiring diagram, and I think I'm supposed to tap into the Brown wire?

Correct. That should be your tail lights. Turn on your tail lights after you're finished and it should come on if the ground is good.

I have to look again, but the last time I checked I didn't see any pig tales where you could just plug it in. The wiring has been altered, it looks like it was wired to tow something before. There's some cut wires too, a harness of 4 wires I think but I have to trace where it's connected to. I'll check it out more on my day off this week.
