i was thinking you may have had it done in black and yellow accents in the center sections. but i guessed wrong. i am thinking that price is out of line.

I see your point! Yeah it was a lot to spend, but I love the results. Maybe if I'd had more time to investigate alternatives I could have found a better way, but at the time, I was working a super demanding software engineering job with long hours. Looking back, I'm amazed that I managed to make progress on this at all! I don't think I slept much.

Looks like they did awesome work!
One of the big things I like about a "mono-color" smooth cover like you've done, is that down the road it can be easily modified.
For instance, after a few years if you tire of it, you could go back in and have them sew on a checkerboard panel, across the top and bottom edge, or down the center. Or they could add a differnt color insert pair with pleats or something.
Doing it the way you did, leaves lots of options, if you decide to make a change down the road.
I'll bet it's really comfortable.

Here's a couple Robroy. The vinyl is starting to crack but it was all done for my high school graduation present in 1988. For the most part its holding up pretty well.
